Dickson hails rising support for NDC

Senator Seriake Dickson has expressed optimism over the growing national acceptance of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), saying the increasing support for the party across the country reflects Nigerians’ desire for purposeful leadership and genuine democratic change.

Dickson, a former governor of Bayelsa State and national leader of the NDC, stated this after receiving separate delegations from Zamfara, Kano and the entertainment industry during a series of meetings held on Thursday.

The former governor said he was particularly pleased to host a delegation of political aspirants from Zamfara State led by Senator Kabiru Marafa.

He thanked the delegation for what he described as their confidence in the vision and leadership of the NDC.

According to Dickson, Marafa has continued to distinguish himself as a courageous politician committed to justice, fairness and the defence of democratic values.

He noted that these principles form part of the foundation upon which the NDC is being built.

“I thanked them for standing firmly behind his leadership and for their trust in the future we are collectively working to build through the party,” Dickson stated.

He assured the delegation that the NDC would continue to engage with the people of Zamfara State and support all sincere efforts aimed at bringing meaningful development and positive change to the state.

In a related development, Dickson also received the Kano State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Nasiru Sule Garo.

The two leaders reportedly discussed the need for committed leadership and collective national action in tackling the numerous political, economic and environmental challenges confronting Nigeria.

The meetings also extended to the entertainment industry as veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike paid a courtesy visit to the former governor alongside members of his team.

During the visit, the actor presented gifts to Dickson in what was described as a goodwill gesture in support of the NDC.

Dickson appreciated the visit and thanked the actor for his support and encouragement towards the party’s vision for national development.

Speaking on the broader political outlook of the country, the Bayelsa-born politician maintained that the increasing support being recorded by the NDC across different states of the federation was a clear sign that Nigerians were eager for a new direction in governance.

He stressed that unity, courage and determination would remain critical to strengthening the movement and achieving the party’s objective of building a nation that works for all citizens.

The meetings are seen by political observers as part of ongoing consultations and alliance-building efforts ahead of future political engagements across the country.
