ADC chairmen urge unity at national convention

The Chairmen’s Forum of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on party members to remain united, disciplined, and focused on strengthening internal democracy as the party holds its special national convention in Abuja.
The appeal was made by the forum’s chairman, Kingsley Ogah, during the non-elective convention attended by party executives, delegates, aspirants, youth leaders, and supporters from across the country.
The special convention was convened in Abuja by a faction of the ADC led by Dumebi Kachikwu.
Welcoming delegates, Ogah described the gathering as a historic moment for the party, saying it signalled a renewed commitment to democratic principles and national development within the ADC.
He commended members across the federation for their loyalty and resilience despite what he described as intimidation, internal disagreements, and structural challenges facing the party.
“To every loyal member who refused to abandon this party during difficult moments, we appreciate your sacrifice, courage and continued belief in the ADC vision,” he said.
Ogah also praised state chairmen, youth leaders, women’s groups, and grassroots supporters for sustaining the party’s presence and credibility across communities nationwide.
According to him, the ADC remains committed to progressive leadership anchored on accountability, inclusion, fairness, discipline, and internal democracy as core values for political growth.
He added that Nigerians were increasingly searching for credible political alternatives capable of restoring public trust through integrity, competence, and responsible leadership.
“Nigerians are tired of deception, corruption and failed promises. They seek leadership built on trust, responsibility, economic growth and sustainable national security,” he stated.
The chairman acknowledged the difficulties confronting political parties, noting that internal crises are often part of the growth process for any serious political movement.
However, he maintained that the ADC had continued to survive its challenges due to the commitment of members who remained focused on building a stronger political structure.
“Our future remains bright. Across the country, party structures are improving, membership is expanding and Nigerians are identifying with our message of responsible governance,” Ogah said.
He urged members to place collective interests above personal ambition, warning that indiscipline, sabotage, and disunity could weaken the party’s credibility and long-term goals.
Ogah also appealed to aggrieved members who felt sidelined during internal processes to embrace reconciliation and contribute to rebuilding stronger party structures nationwide.
“This is the time to restore confidence, strengthen unity and recommit ourselves to the collective mission of building a credible political alternative for Nigerians,” he said.
He further noted that millions of Nigerians were currently facing economic hardship, unemployment, hunger, and insecurity, stressing that citizens deserve leadership rooted in accountability and truth.
According to him, the ADC must continue to present practical solutions to national challenges while engaging citizens through issue-based political discussions.
While expressing optimism about the party’s future, Ogah said the sacrifices of loyal members would not be in vain as the ADC continues to expand its presence across the country.
“Together, we shall rebuild stronger structures, deepen internal democracy, restore public confidence and prepare the party for a brighter and more prosperous future,” he added.
