Barcelona agree €80m+ deal for Anthony Gordon

Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign winger Anthony Gordon in a deal valued at more than €80 million including add-ons.

The agreement is structured around a fixed fee of €70 million, with performance-related bonuses expected to push the total package beyond €80 million.

The deal was reportedly accepted by Newcastle’s board as well as the club’s Saudi owners, clearing the way for the transfer to proceed.

Gordon is expected to travel to Barcelona on Thursday for a medical examination and to complete the final stages of his contract signing ahead of a move to the Camp Nou.

The England international ended the 2025 season as Newcastle’s top scorer, registering 18 goals across all competitions.

Although he signed a long-term contract extension at St James’ Park in October 2024 with four years still remaining, speculation about his future increased in recent weeks.

He was also left out of action in Newcastle’s final four matches of the season, with reports suggesting the club aimed to avoid any injury risk that could disrupt a potential transfer.

German champions Bayern Munich were also interested in the former Everton winger earlier in the month.

The Bundesliga side were reportedly looking to strengthen an attack that already features England captain Harry Kane, alongside former Premier League players Michael Olise and Luis Díaz.

Despite Bayern’s interest, Barcelona moved decisively to secure Gordon’s signature ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, with negotiations now in their final stages.
