Tinubu’s re-election my top priority, says Oborevwori

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, describing the President’s second-term bid as his foremost political priority.
Speaking of Tuesday during an interview on ARISE News, monitored in Asaba, Oborevwori, said Tinubu’s return to office would strengthen development efforts in State and improve governance across the country.
Oborevwori urged Nigerians to support the President, arguing that continuity in leadership would create more opportunities for states to deliver projects and improve citizens’ welfare.
He credited the Federal Government’s economic reforms for boosting revenues available to state governments, saying Delta had benefited significantly from the policy changes.
According to the governor, increased allocations have enabled his administration to execute major infrastructure projects while meeting financial obligations without delays.
He revealed that contractors handling state projects are paid promptly once work is verified, noting that Delta no longer depends solely on monthly federal allocations to settle payments.
The governor maintained that the state’s improved financial position demonstrates the effectiveness of Tinubu’s economic policies.
Oborevwori said the reforms have expanded resources available to sub-national governments, allowing them to invest more in development and public services.
He also said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remained united in Delta State and is focused on securing victory for President Tinubu.
He disclosed that extensive consultations preceded the recent movement of key political figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
The governor described the defection as a major political shift, saying stakeholders across different groups overwhelmingly supported the decision.
According to him, discussions were held with party leaders, elected officials, community stakeholders, religious leaders and residents before the move was finalised.
Oborevwori insisted that those who joined the APC remained committed to strengthening the party and defending its interests in the state.
He also expressed optimism that Delta would deliver substantial votes for Tinubu in 2027, citing growing support for the President across the state’s senatorial districts.
The governor argued that many residents have embraced the APC after witnessing what he described as the positive impact of federal policies on the state economy.
Dismissing concerns about opposition gains, Oborevwori said his administration’s record of completed and ongoing projects would serve as a strong campaign asset.
He noted that numerous projects were currently being executed across Delta, adding that visible development remained the best response to political criticism.
The governor further highlighted what he called a strong relationship between President Tinubu and the people of Delta.
He expressed confidence that voters would reward the President’s policies with their support at the polls in 2027.
