Tunisia Sack Lamouchi, Appoint Renard After Defeat

Tunisia have sacked head coach Sabri Lamouchi following their 5-1 defeat to Sweden at the 2026 World Cup and immediately appointed Herve Renard as his replacement.
The Tunisian Football Federation confirmed the decision after the heavy Group F loss, describing it as part of urgent technical changes during the tournament.
Federation president Moez Nassari announced that Renard has agreed to lead the team until the end of the 2026 World Cup.
Lamouchi, a former French international, had only been appointed in January before the team’s poor tournament start.
The defeat leaves Tunisia with a difficult path to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition.
They are scheduled to face Japan in their next group match.
Renard arrives with a strong World Cup reputation, having previously guided Saudi Arabia to a famous win over Argentina in 2022.
He has also coached the France women’s national team, bringing further international experience to the role.
The appointment is seen as a last attempt to revive Tunisia’s campaign and restore confidence in the squad.
