Katsina Police Arrest Woman Over Grandmother’s Death
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman over the alleged killing of her 97-year-old grandmother in Daura Local Government Area of the state.
The command said the incident occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on June 12, 2026, following an argument between the suspect and her paternal grandmother.
According to police findings, the disagreement escalated during a confrontation inside the family home.
Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly struck the elderly woman on the head with a wooden chair during the altercation.
The force of the blow reportedly caused severe head injuries to the 97-year-old woman.
Police said the victim was later discovered unconscious in a pool of blood after a distress call was made.
The report was lodged at the Sabon Garin Daura Police Station by the suspect’s father.
Officers responding to the scene rushed the victim to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The woman was later confirmed dead by a doctor on duty at the hospital.
The Katsina Police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
He said the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation by investigators.
Sadiq added that the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
He further stated that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
The command assured residents that justice will be served in the case.
Police also pledged to keep the public informed as further details emerge.
