NNU Raises Alarm Over Insecurity, Calls Emergency Meeting

Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), the apex socio-cultural organisation of the Ndokwa people, has expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation across Ndokwa communities and convened an emergency General Assembly to deliberate on the growing threat.

In a statement issued by the President General, Chief Amechi Asugwuni, and Secretary General, Den. Jimoh Egwali, the union called on all Ndokwa sons and daughters to condemn criminality and support efforts to protect lives, property and community development.

The organisation said the increasing incidents of insecurity had become a source of concern for residents, community leaders and stakeholders, stressing that urgent and coordinated action was needed to safeguard lives and property.

The union noted that reports of criminal activities in parts of Ndokwa land have heightened fears among residents and could undermine peace, social stability and economic development if not promptly addressed.

It therefore called on community leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, security agencies and government authorities to work together in tackling the challenge.

The NNU assured residents of its commitment to working with security agencies to tackle insecurity, warning that anyone found involved in criminal activities would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

According to the NNU, the forthcoming General Assembly will provide a platform for stakeholders to critically examine the security situation, identify underlying causes and chart a practical course for lasting solutions.

The organisation emphasised that security remains a collective responsibility and urged all Ndokwa sons and daughters to remain vigilant while supporting lawful efforts aimed at preserving peace within their communities.

Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and progress of Ndokwa nation, the union stated that the emergency gathering would also consider measures to strengthen community-based security structures and improve collaboration with relevant government agencies.

The NNU called on stakeholders to attend the assembly and contribute meaningfully to discussions geared towards restoring confidence, enhancing safety and promoting sustainable development across Ndokwa land.

“We cannot afford to fold our arms while insecurity threatens the peace and future of our people,” the union stated, stressing the need for unity and decisive action in confronting the challenge.

The General Assembly is expected to attract traditional rulers, political leaders, community representatives, youth organisations and other stakeholders from across Ndokwa nation as efforts intensify to address the security concerns confronting the area.
