Delta govt to empower artisans, others across 25 LGAs

Apart of efforts geared towards achieving the ‘MORE Agenda’ mantra, the Delta government has announced that it set to commence empowerment of artisans among other skilled persons across the State.
Ms Orode Uduaghan, the State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl-Child Development, disclosed this in a statement she personally issued on Friday in Asaba.
She noted that that the ”MORE Grant Scheme” which is aimed at supporting artisans among others, was consciously structured for indegene of Delta.
The commissioner also said that the scheme is structured for persons between the ages of 21 and 50 years.
Uduaghan explained that the categories of artisan’s targeted for the scheme include persons with exceptional tiling, vulcanizing, carpentry, welding and electrical works, amongst other manual skills.
She also disclosed that collection of application forms which would be at no cost, would commence on Monday, April 22, across the 25 local government areas of the State.
She stressed the need for eligible applicants to have valid means of identification such as Driver’s license, Permanent Voters Card (PVC) or international Passport.
”Applicants who are intending beneficiaries should be between the ages of 21 and 50 years, to apply in-person for the ”2024 MORE Grant Scheme”.
”Intending beneficiaries are also expected to present their artisans training certificate at the point of submission of forms on the 24th of April on or before.
“Applicants musy be indigene of Delta and must be from the LGA where the form is picked up. Applicants must also reside and work in that Local Government Area,” she added.
The Commissioner also noted that those who had previously benefited from any of the state government’s empowerment programme needed not to apply.
