Lagos Police Probe Ammunition Parcel Sent to Bank CEO

The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into a parcel containing live ammunition delivered to the residence of First Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Olusegun Alebiosu.

The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing in Lagos.

He said the incident was reported to the police on May 7, 2026, by the bank chief.

According to Fatai, a security guard at Alebiosu’s residence received the parcel before it was opened and found to contain ammunition.

The package reportedly contained two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.
He said the discovery immediately triggered a full-scale police investigation.

Fatai described the case as serious and said investigators are treating it with urgency.

“Presently, I can confirm to you that the matter is still under investigation,” he said.

He added that although the victim provided names of individuals suspected to be involved, no arrests have been made.

“Presently, no suspect is in custody… we are still working on it,” he said.

The commissioner also highlighted ongoing police operations across Lagos State.

He said recent intelligence-led raids led to the arrest of several suspects involved in different criminal activities.

Recovered items included firearms, cartridges, mobile phones, a motorcycle, military camouflage uniforms, and vandalised electrical cables.

Fatai said the command remained committed to sustaining pressure on criminal networks operating in the state.
