Police Arrest 3 Over Ex-Broadcaster’s Murder

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the killing of former OGTV broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard.

The suspects were presented at the State Police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, by Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni.

The police commissioner said investigations, intelligence gathering, and technical tracking led to the arrests.

According to him, the principal suspect confessed that the attack was carried out to “teach her a lesson” over alleged poor remuneration.

Ojajuni said the suspects would be prosecuted after the completion of ongoing investigations.

Police recovered a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, a black pen, and other items believed to be linked to the crime.

Oyesiku and her security guard were found dead at her residence in Owode-Egba, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

The former broadcaster was discovered in a pool of blood inside her living room.

Her security guard was found dead inside the security post within the compound.

Ojajuni said police received a distress report on June 21, 2026, at about 4:00 p.m.

The report raised suspicion after the residence appeared abandoned under unusual circumstances.

He said officers discovered the front door had been partially damaged.

The security house was also found locked, prompting immediate police intervention.

Investigators processed the crime scene using scientific methods to preserve evidence.

Police also discovered that Oyesiku’s Lexus RX 330 vehicle was missing from the compound.

The missing vehicle strengthened suspicions that robbery accompanied the killings.

The command immediately launched intelligence-driven operations and technical tracking to recover the vehicle and identify those responsible.

Ojajuni said detectives recovered the Lexus on June 22 through credible intelligence.

Although the ignition key was removed, the registration plates had also been detached.

Detectives later found the vehicle’s registration plate hidden beneath one of the seats.

That discovery confirmed the recovered vehicle belonged to the deceased.

Police also recovered a handwritten note allegedly left behind by the attackers.

The document was subjected to forensic examination, generating fresh investigative leads.

Those findings assisted detectives in tracing the suspects.

The principal suspect, aged 22, was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta.

Police said he was working there as a labourer before his arrest.

Further operations resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old security guard and a 36-year-old bricklayer.

Ojajuni said the three suspects were directly connected to the alleged conspiracy and killings.

During interrogation, the principal suspect allegedly admitted participating in the crime.

Police said he confessed to recruiting the two other suspects for the operation.

Investigators alleged the suspect planned the attack after becoming dissatisfied while working as Oyesiku’s security guard.

Ojajuni said the suspect complained about low wages and repeated requests for financial assistance.

He quoted the suspect as saying the killings were intended to “teach her a lesson.”

Police alleged the suspects struck on June 20, 2026.

Investigators said they first overpowered security guard Pelumi Adetayo before forcing access into the residence.

They allegedly attacked Oyesiku after gaining entry into the house.

The suspects reportedly escaped with her Lexus RX 330 after the attack.

The vehicle was later recovered through intelligence-led operations in the Onikolobo area of Ogun State.

Police believe the conspiracy involving the three suspects resulted in the deaths of Oyesiku and Adetayo.

Further searches linked to the suspects produced additional exhibits relevant to the investigation.

Ojajuni stressed that all suspects remain entitled to due process despite their alleged confessional statements.

He said investigations are continuing to strengthen available evidence before prosecution.

“The Command remains committed to ensuring that justice is served and that all persons connected with this heinous crime are brought to book,” the police commissioner said.
