Nigeria Can Overcome Its Challenges With Strong Political Will — Remi Tinubu

The Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed confidence that Nigeria can overcome its current challenges if there is strong political will and collective commitment to national development.

She made this known on Thursday in Abuja after her investiture as the Grand Matron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) at the State House.

Acknowledging the humanitarian work of the Red Cross across the country, the First Lady said Nigeria’s difficulties were not insurmountable if leaders and citizens commit to doing what is right for the nation.

“There is no challenge that is unsurmountable if we have the right will, and strong political will, to do right by the nation.
“Our assignment is a daily call to duty and we have to rise every day to do the work, ” she said.

Mrs Tinubu emphasised the importance of involving young people in voluntary service, saying early exposure to humanitarian activities would help build a more compassionate society.

She also encouraged Nigerians to embrace a culture of helping others, no matter how small the gesture, noting that acts of kindness strengthen communities.

“If you have the capacity to help a neighbour in whatever way you can, do so,” she added.

The First Lady further highlighted her administration’s National Food Bank Programme, which she said is being implemented across the six geopolitical zones to reduce child malnutrition and support vulnerable households.

Earlier, the National President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, welcomed her investiture, describing it as a recognition of her commitment to humanitarian service and support for vulnerable Nigerians.

He noted that the NRCS, with over 1.5 million volunteers, remains Nigeria’s statutory humanitarian organisation and stressed the growing need for humanitarian intervention amid rising crises.

Adeaga also announced plans to establish a Nigeria Academy for Humanitarian Studies to strengthen training, research, and professional development in the sector.
