Oborevwori Celebrates Benue at 50, Seeks Stronger Ties

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has congratulated the Government and people of Benue State on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee, describing the milestone as a reflection of resilience, cultural richness and steady development over the past five decades.
Represented at the event by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Dennis Guwor, who delivered Delta State’s goodwill message during the celebration.
Oborevwori while felicitating with the State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, noted that the anniversary marked an important chapter in the state’s history and a celebration of its achievements since creation.
He commended the Alia-led administration for what he described as notable developmental strides, expressing confidence that Benue State would continue to experience progress and stability in the years ahead.
“We acknowledge the remarkable progress Benue State has made under Governor Hyacinth Alia’s leadership and are confident that the years ahead will usher in even greater accomplishments,” he stated.
The governor also highlighted Benue State’s significance as the “Food Basket of the Nation,” noting that the Golden Jubilee was not only a celebration of political history but also of the state’s agricultural strength, cultural diversity and contribution to national development.
He prayed for sustained peace, unity and prosperity in the state, adding that the milestone should usher in a new era of growth and development.
“As Benue State commemorates this Golden Jubilee, let me again congratulate the Government and people of the state and pray that this milestone will usher in greater peace, unity, prosperity, sustainable development,” Oborevwori added.
The event attracted several dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu, represented by his Chief of Staff, as well as other senior government officials and prominent Nigerians from across the country.
The speaker was accompanied by the Delta State Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Michael Anoka, and the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, Chief Kestin Pondi, among others.
