Kwankwasiyya seeks details of PFIPC funding, mandate

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has urged the Federal Government to immediately release full details of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), including its mandate, funding, and operations, to restore public trust.
In a statement issued in Kano on Saturday by its spokesman, Habibu Mohammed, the group said the controversy surrounding the PFIPC now goes beyond individual allegations and raises serious concerns about transparency, due process, and public financial management.
The movement insisted that Nigerians have a right to know how public funds are being used, warning that silence or inconsistent responses from authorities could deepen mistrust in government institutions.
It noted what it described as a contradiction between the Presidency’s denial of the council’s existence and reports suggesting that over N1 billion was allocated to it in the 2026 national budget.
According to the group, the situation raises critical questions, including how an entity allegedly denied by the government could appear in official budget documents, who approved the allocation, and whether any funds have been disbursed.
The statement also called on the Presidency to clarify the administrative processes behind the council’s inclusion in the budget and to explain what steps are being taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The movement warned that unresolved questions around the PFIPC could affect Nigeria’s international credibility and investor confidence, stressing that governance transparency is essential for economic stability.
It further urged the National Assembly, anti-corruption agencies, and other oversight bodies to conduct independent investigations into the matter and ensure accountability.
The group maintained that democracy can only thrive where public institutions are transparent, insisting that Nigerians deserve clear and timely answers from government authorities.
