Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has charged newly sworn-in political appointees to uphold integrity, professionalism and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
The governor gave the charge during the swearing-in of new members of the Delta State Executive Council and other government appointees in Asaba.
The newly inaugurated officials included two commissioners, a member of the Governing Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), and members of the State Judicial Service Commission.
Oborevwori said the appointments come with the responsibility of strengthening governance, promoting development and ensuring that public trust is maintained through responsible leadership.
Addressing the appointees, the governor urged them to demonstrate transparency, fairness and commitment to service, stressing that their actions should reflect the values of his administration’s MORE Agenda.
“Your actions should inspire public confidence and reinforce our administration’s commitment to the MORE Agenda.”
He advised the new DESOPADEC board member, Cosmas Igbenije, to justify the confidence placed in him by working with dedication and prioritising the development of oil-producing communities.
The governor noted that the DESOPADEC board had recorded achievements in areas including road construction, education, healthcare, electricity and water projects across host communities, urging members to sustain the progress and deepen engagement with residents.
Speaking to members of the Judicial Service Commission, Oborevwori said only persons with proven integrity and strong character could be entrusted with responsibilities involving the appointment, promotion, discipline and welfare of judicial officers.
He charged the commission to uphold fairness, impartiality and transparency in order to strengthen the independence and effectiveness of the judiciary.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Commissioner Brave Enodeh thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and pledged their commitment to advancing the administration’s development agenda.
