IGP decorates 30 newly promoted officers
Thirty senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force have assumed new ranks following their formal decoration by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The ceremony, held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall on Tuesday, saw 13 officers promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and 17 others elevated to Commissioners of Police (CP).
The event was attended by senior government officials, security leaders, traditional rulers and political representatives who joined in celebrating the officers’ career progression after years of service.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, IGP Disu described their elevation as a call to greater responsibility rather than merely a professional achievement.
He charged them to provide purposeful leadership, uphold the values of the Nigeria Police Force and use their new positions to strengthen public confidence in policing.
The police chief acknowledged the sacrifices made by the officers throughout their careers, noting that many had missed important family occasions and personal milestones because of their commitment to national service.
He also commended their families for their support and understanding over the years.
Disu urged the officers to lead with integrity, compassion and fairness, stressing that commanders who prioritise the welfare of their personnel would gain stronger commitment and loyalty from those under their command.
He further encouraged them to mentor younger officers, promote professionalism and ensure their new ranks were carried with humility.
