The wait is over for millions of secondary school students as the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates.
WAEC made the announcement on Wednesday through its official communication channels, directing candidates to access their results online through the WAEC Direct portal.
“UPDATE: 2026 WASSCE (SC) results have been released. Generate your PIN at waec.org and check your results now on waecdirect.org,” the examination body announced.
More than 1.9 million candidates who participated in the examination can now begin checking their performance after sitting for the papers conducted nationwide between April 21 and June 19, 2026.
How Candidates Can Check Results
WAEC said candidates must first obtain their Serial Number and PIN before accessing their results.
To generate the required credentials, candidates are expected to visit WAEC’s official website and select the “Serial Number and PIN” option.
They will then provide details including their examination year, examination number and National Identification Number (NIN). WAEC advised candidates to ensure that the NIN entered matches the one used during registration.
Candidates are also required to submit their email address and phone number to receive a One-Time Password (OTP), which will enable them to retrieve their Serial Number and PIN.
After successfully obtaining these details, candidates can proceed to check their results through WAEC Direct.

The release of the results marks the conclusion of another major academic milestone for students seeking admission into higher institutions and those preparing for their next educational steps.
