CNN, Dangote seal global partnership on Africa’s growth

CNN International Commercial (CNNIC) and Dangote Industries Limited have entered a multi-year global partnership aimed at spotlighting Africa’s growing influence in business, innovation and industrial development.
The collaboration would see Dangote Industries sponsor Africa Inc., a new CNN International programme examining African companies that are expanding their reach and competing in the global marketplace.
The partnership formed part of a wider multiplatform campaign designed to showcase the scale of Dangote Industries while telling broader stories about Africa’s economic transformation.
Hosted by Adefemi Akinsanya, Africa Inc. would explore companies operating across industries including technology, hospitality, manufacturing and entertainment.
Rather than presenting Africa simply as an emerging market, the programme would examine how businesses on the continent are increasingly shaping global commerce, innovation and consumer trends.
The half-hour programme is scheduled to premiere on CNN International on August 29, with four additional episodes expected through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.
Beyond the main programme, bespoke Africa Inc. segments will air every two months on CNN International, supported by digital and social media content.
The partnership also included a branded-content initiative produced by CNNIC’s in-house studio, titled Africa First, the series would examine Africa’s push towards energy independence and broader economic transformation through films, data-driven articles and social media content.
Dangote Industries would feature as one example of the continent’s industrial development, particularly its role in expanding local production and strengthening economic capacity.
The campaign would run across CNN International, CNN.com and CNN Arabic, as well as CNN Business platforms on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Africa First content would also be distributed across CNN’s US television and digital platforms, giving the campaign a wider international reach.
The partnership would further extend into live events, with Dangote Industries set to sponsor three editions of CNN’s new Global Perspectives events franchise over the next 12 months.
CNN International Commercial Senior Vice President for Advertising Sales, Cathy Ibal, said the partnership would provide an opportunity to bring African business stories to a global audience.
“We are pleased to once again be working with Dangote Industries Limited to tell the stories of a self-sufficient Africa,” Ibal said.
She added that the collaboration would highlight African innovation, resilience and leadership while giving international audiences greater insight into the continent’s changing economic landscape.
For Dangote Industries, the partnership is also part of a broader effort to strengthen its global brand positioning.
The conglomerate’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, said the collaboration would provide a platform to communicate Dangote’s Vision 2030 economic blueprint and industrialisation agenda to audiences around the world.
The Africa First branded content is set to launch this week, ahead of the August 29 debut of Africa Inc. on CNN International.
The partnership comes as African businesses increasingly seek to move beyond traditional perceptions of the continent as a destination for raw materials and position Africa as a centre of production, innovation, investment and global enterprise.
