I can deliver good governance in 4 years – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has expressed confidence that he can provide good governance for all Nigerians within a single four-year term.
He reiterated his proposal for a single term, emphasising that he doesn’t need more than four years to make a positive impact.
Obi said this on Sunday when he featured on Politics programme on Channels television.
“I don’t need a day more than four years. I will show the direction of good governance.
”“In two years, there have been maximum damage. Two years can change it in good direction.
”People want to get up and see a president that cares, that shows compassion,” he said.
Obi also announced his intentions to run for president in 2027, and not as running mate to any politician.
“I’m going to contest for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I believe I am qualified for it,” he added.
He emphasised his commitment to showing compassion and care for the people, highlighting the need for a president who prioritizes the welfare of Nigerians.
Obi also explained why he’s open to working with members of the new opposition coalition, including those who have served in past governments.
He said that the experience of those who have served in the past failed government was even more needed because they know what was wrong.
According to Obi, the experience of those who have served in past governments is crucial in shaping a better future.
“In fact, even some who have been in that government, their experience is critical… You need the experience of those who have failed and those who have succeeded to move on, and I need everyone, ” he said.
He cited an example of a major company hiring individuals who have worked in failed companies to learn from their experiences.
Obi emphasised the need for everyone to work together to move forward, regardless of their past experiences.
Obi confirmed that he would be contesting for the presidency in 2027.
When asked whether he was considering becoming the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 election, Obi denied any discussions about being a running mate to Abubakar in the election.
Obi said, “This is not in play; nobody has ever discussed that. People assume so many things. Nobody has ever discussed with me whether I am going to be A or B or C.”
Obi is part of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, which aims to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
The opposition coalition, which includes prominent figures like Atiku Abubakar, David Mark, and Rauf Aregbesola, aims to address the country’s economic challenges, including high inflation and unprecedented cost of living.
