WAEC apologises for WASSCE 2025 glitch

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily suspended access to the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results due to technical glitches discovered during an internal review.
The issues arose from a new paper serialisation system introduced to prevent examination malpractice in subjects like Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.
WAEC said the technical glitches were detected after the results were released, prompting WAEC to take down the result checker portal.
According to WAEC’s Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, the council is working diligently to resolve the issue with transparency and urgency within the next 24 hours.
”If you’ve already checked your results, WAEC advises you to re-check them after 24 hours.
”The council apologises for the inconvenience and appreciates your patience and understanding as they work to fix the problem,” he said.
He assured that the council is committed to fairness and professionalism in addressing the issue.
WAEC introduced the paper serialization system to curb examination malpractice, aligning with best practices in assessment.
However, the technical bugs that emerged have caused delays in releasing the results.
The Federal Ministry of Education has confirmed that the technical glitch has been resolved, and updated results will be available within 24 hours.
WAEC is expected to restore access to the result checker portal once the issues are fixed.
