Brig Gen Braimah, 7 soldiers buried in Maiduguri

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, held a solemn burial ceremony for Brigadier General Oseni Braimah and seven other soldiers who lost their lives in a recent insurgent attack in Borno State.
The burial took place at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, where the fallen officers and soldiers were honoured with full military rites in recognition of their service to the nation.
The deceased personnel were killed on April 9, 2026, during coordinated attacks launched by suspected fighters of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on military formations in Benisheikh, a strategic town in Kaga Local Government Area along the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway.
The attacks, which targeted key military positions, led to the deaths of senior and junior officers deployed in the area.
At the burial ceremony, military authorities paid tribute to the fallen personnel, describing their sacrifice as one made in active service in defence of national security and territorial integrity.
Family members, senior military officers, and colleagues attended the solemn event as the remains of the deceased were laid to rest with full military honours.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustained operations against insurgent groups in the North-East, even as it mourned the loss of its personnel.
