Onuoha takes over as Akwa Ibom INEC REC

A new Resident Electoral Commissioner has been appointed for Akwa Ibom State, with Anugbum Onuoha formally assuming office in the state.

Professor Onuoha, a scholar of law, steps into the role under the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), taking over responsibilities for overseeing electoral activities and strengthening democratic processes in the state.

His appointment followed the redeployment of the outgoing commissioner, Obo Efanga, who has now been assigned to serve in the same capacity in Edo State.

Efanga is not new to his latest posting, having previously held the position of Resident Electoral Commissioner in Edo before his most recent assignment in Akwa Ibom.

The transition marks a routine administrative reshuffle within INEC aimed at maintaining operational efficiency and continuity across states.

With his academic background and experience in legal studies, Onuoha is expected to bring a fresh perspective to electoral management in Akwa Ibom.

His assumption of duty comes at a time when preparations and strategic planning for future electoral exercises remain a key focus for the commission nationwide.
