DESOPADEC contractors endorse Oborevwori for 2027 re-election

The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) Indigenous Contractors Forum has declared its support for the re-election of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was made at a press briefing held over the weekend, where members of the forum unanimously agreed to mobilise support for the governor’s second term bid, citing what they described as notable infrastructural progress in the state over the past three years.
Chairman of the forum, Ogie Samson, said the decision was based on the governor’s performance, particularly in infrastructure development across Delta State.
He added that members of the group had benefited from increased recognition and support under the current administration.
According to him, Oborevwori’s intervention in clearing part of outstanding debts owed to contractors through DESOPADEC demonstrated responsiveness to their concerns.
“It was only Oborevwori that listened to the cries of members of the forum by releasing funds to DESOPADEC to pay part of the outstanding debts owed them,” Samson said.
He further noted that the governor had strengthened the operations of DESOPADEC since assuming office, enabling the agency to better deliver on its mandate to contractors and host communities.
Samson stated that the endorsement was also driven by a desire to ensure continuity of ongoing projects across the state.
“With different infrastructures springing across the state, it shows Governor Oborevwori has the state at heart,” he said.
He added that members of the forum expect broader access to state-level contracts beyond DESOPADEC patronage, noting their intention to contribute more significantly to development efforts across Delta State.
Secretary of the forum, Prince Charles Ebigbagha, also commended the governor’s performance and urged members to mobilise support at the grassroots level.
“Sheriff we know has done a lot for the state and not just for DESOPADEC. And for that reason, I don’t think we have any reason not to support him,” he said, urging members to return to their wards and campaign for his re-election.
Former pioneer chairman of the forum, Hon. Francis Obule, praised the leadership of the group for endorsing the governor, while former pioneer secretary, Hon. Sunny Mabiaku, reaffirmed their collective support.
“We as Indigenous Contractors Forum have come to say we are very strongly behind His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for second term,” Mabiaku declared.
Also speaking, a forum leader, Princess Beauty Perekeme, called on Deltans to support the governor’s re-election bid, saying his administration had delivered meaningful development across the state.
“This coming 2027 elections, all of us in this forum, from different ethnic nationalities, will work for our governor,” she said.
The event climaxed with a motion of confidence in Governor Oborevwori, moved by Hon. Francis Obule and seconded by Hon. Anino Ajemigbogho, which was unanimously adopted by members of the forum.
