J Martins urges peace between P-Square brothers

Nigerian singer J Martins has appealed to twin brothers Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye to settle their differences privately, following renewed public attention on tension between the duo.

Martins made the appeal on Tuesday via his X account after Peter Okoye announced a change to his birthday date—from November 18, which he had long shared with his twin brother, to November 30.

The move sparked online reactions and fresh concerns about the state of their relationship.

Expressing disbelief over the development, Martins wrote: “These are my brothers for more two decades, I still don’t understand why one will just wake up decades to change his own birthday separate from his twin brother?

”@PeterPsquare @rudeboypsquare can we fix these stuff inside our house & not bring this shame on Ndi Igbo nke anyi”.

The singer urged both artistes to resolve their issues away from public space, stressing the importance of preserving their shared legacy and cultural reputation.

Peter and Paul Okoye, widely known as P-Square, rose to fame as one of Africa’s most successful music duos, dominating the entertainment scene across the continent before their first split in 2017.

The brothers later reunited in 2021, staging a widely celebrated comeback performance.

However, reports of renewed disagreements resurfaced in 2024, including allegations by Paul that Peter was linked to his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, as well as Peter’s concerns over past management issues.

J Martins, who has maintained close ties with both artistes over the years, is considered one of the industry figures with strong relationships with the duo, making his public intervention significant amid ongoing tensions.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Peter Okoye nor Paul Okoye has responded publicly to the latest appeal.
