Delta police arrest 2 suspected kidnappers

The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers in separate operations carried out in different parts of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests while briefing journalists on Sunday in Warri.
Edafe said the suspects were apprehended on Friday by the command’s tactical team following actionable intelligence that led officers to their locations.
According to him, one of the suspects was arrested in the Ekuigbo area of Ughelli on April 24 during an intelligence-led operation.
He explained that the suspect was linked to a kidnapping syndicate allegedly responsible for attacks on commuters along the Ughelli–Warri Road, a route frequently targeted by criminal groups.
“On April 24, operatives of the command’s tactical team, acting on credible intelligence, arrested one of the suspects in the Ekuigbo area of Ughelli,” Edafe said.
He added that information obtained during interrogation of the first suspect led operatives to a second suspect, who was later arrested at the Trailer Park along the Warri–Sapele Road.
Edafe further disclosed that an AK-47 rifle loaded with 36 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition was recovered from the suspects during the operation.
He said both suspects are currently in custody and assisting police investigators, while further inquiries into the case are ongoing.
The police spokesman reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across Delta State, assuring residents of continued security operations to rid the state of criminal elements.
