PSG edge Bayern in 9-goal semi-final thriller

Paris Saint-Germain produced a stunning attacking display on Tuesday night to defeat Bayern Munich 5–4 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final, in what has been described as one of the most dramatic matches in the competition’s history.

The encounter at the Parc des Princes saw both teams trade blows in a relentless contest that produced nine goals, with Paris Saint-Germain eventually edging Bayern Munich by a single goal ahead of next week’s decisive second leg in Germany.

Bayern struck first through a Harry Kane penalty after an early foul, but PSG quickly responded as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia levelled the score with a clinical finish.

João Neves then headed the hosts into the lead, only for Bayern’s Michael Olise to restore parity at 2–2.

The first half continued at a frantic pace, with Ousmane Dembélé converting a penalty just before the break to give PSG a 3–2 advantage.

PSG extended their lead after the restart, with Kvaratskhelia and Dembélé each scoring again to put the French champions 5–2 ahead, appearing to have sealed the tie early.

However, Bayern mounted a late fightback. Dayot Upamecano pulled one back with a header before Luis Díaz added a fourth, narrowing the deficit to 5–4 and setting up a tense finish.

Despite Bayern’s pressure, PSG held on, with a late effort striking the crossbar as the match ended in dramatic fashion.

The result gives PSG a narrow advantage heading into the return leg at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern will look to overturn the deficit on home soil.

PSG, coached by Luis Enrique, remain on course for another Champions League final appearance, while Bayern will rely on their attacking strength, led by Harry Kane, to mount a comeback.

The second leg promises another high-intensity clash, with a place in the final in Budapest at stake.
