Bandits kill 3 in Kwara police camp attack

 

Suspected bandits have launched a deadly attack on a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing at least three officers and injuring two others.

The assault, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, reportedly threw the community into panic as sustained gunfire echoed across the area.

According to a local source, the attackers stormed the police facility unexpectedly and overwhelmed officers on duty before carrying out the deadly raid.

The source said the attack happened while residents were still asleep, heightening fear and confusion within the community.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ejide Tohun, said the command was aware of the attack but noted that full details would be released later.

The command have yet to disclose further information on the identity of the attackers or whether any arrests have been made.

The incident adds to ongoing security challenges in parts of northern Nigeria, where armed groups continue to target security formations and rural communities.

In a related development, security operations in other regions have led to some rescues and counterattacks, but violence persists in several hotspots.

Meanwhile, residents of Tenebo community remain on edge following the attack, as security operatives intensify surveillance in the area.
