Aspirant suspends campaign in honour of lawmaker’s late wife in Delta

Chukwuemeke Victor, an aspirant for the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, has suspended all campaign-related activities following the death of Mrs. Isioma Dafe, wife of Hon. Chukudi Dafe, member representing Ukwuani Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly.

The decision, according to Victor, was taken to allow the political community and constituents to mourn with the bereaved family, stressing that compassion must take precedence over political ambition at this time.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the aspirant appealed to supporters and residents of the constituency to temporarily step away from political engagements and stand in solidarity with the lawmaker and his family.

“My good people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, I sincerely plead with everyone to take a break from politics as we join our dear brother, friend and lawmaker, Hon. Chukudi Dafe, to mourn the passing of his beloved wife,” he said.

Victor noted that the death of Mrs. Dafe, popularly known as Mayaki, is not just a private loss but a collective grief shared across communities in Ndokwa and Ukwuani.

He stressed that continuing political consultations at such a moment would be inappropriate, adding that leaders and supporters alike must demonstrate empathy and unity.

“This is not a time for political fanfare but a time to grieve with one of our own. I have directed that all programmes and consultations be put on hold as we mourn our beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend,” he added.

The aspirant also described the late Mrs. Isioma Dafe as a respected and cherished figure whose legacy would remain in the hearts of many within the constituency.

He extended condolences to Hon. Dafe and his family, praying for strength and comfort for them during the period of mourning, as well as for the peaceful repose of the deceased.

“May her kind soul rest in perfect peace,” Victor said.
