Shakira, Burna Boy unveil FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem “Dai Dai”

Colombian superstar Shakira has released a new global track titled “Dai Dai”, which has been adopted as the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy.
The music star made the announcement on Friday through her social media pages, describing the release as the beginning of the tournament’s global excitement.
The song is already circulating on major streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Amazon Music.
In her post, Shakira celebrated the launch, saying: “Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!”
Football’s governing body, FIFA, later confirmed the release on its official X account, noting that the project was developed in collaboration with Sony Music Latin.
FIFA said the track was created to reflect the energy, passion and global unity associated with the World Cup, as part of efforts to build anticipation ahead of the tournament.
It also disclosed that the song forms part of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which seeks to raise 100 million dollars to expand access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide.
According to FIFA, proceeds from streaming royalties will go into the fund, while Sony Music will match the first 250,000 dollars raised under the initiative.
The song carries motivational themes focused on determination, ambition and unity, and includes references to several football legends such as Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah.
It also highlights a range of football nations including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, England, Germany, France, Spain, Japan and South Korea.
The release marks Shakira’s return to the World Cup music stage after her widely recognised contributions to previous tournaments, including “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” in 2010 and “La La La” in 2014.
For Burna Boy, the collaboration further strengthens his global profile, making him one of the few Nigerian artistes to feature on an official FIFA World Cup soundtrack.
He follows in the footsteps of Davido, who featured on the 2022 World Cup anthem “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” alongside Trinidad Cardona and Aisha.
Meanwhile, FIFA has also announced that Nigerian singer Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12.
The tournament is scheduled to begin on June 11, with the opening match between Mexico and South Africa at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
