Delta APC hails peaceful Reps primaries

The Delta chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised party members, leaders, and stakeholders for what it described as the peaceful and orderly conduct of the House of Representatives primary elections held across federal constituencies in the state.

The party said the violence-free exercise reflected the growing unity, discipline, and democratic maturity within the APC in Delta State, stressing that the process successfully captured the wishes of members at the grassroots level.

Speaking at the APC State Secretariat on Saturday in Asaba, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mr Valentine Onojeghuo, commended members for their peaceful conduct, political maturity, and commitment throughout the exercise.

According to him, the success recorded during the primaries was largely due to the leadership approach of the Governor of Delta State and leader of the party in the state, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, whom he credited with ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all aspirants.

“What we witnessed across Delta State was a peaceful, transparent and credible process. There was no room for intimidation or unnecessary tension because every aspirant was given a fair opportunity to participate,” Onojeghuo stated.

He noted that Oborevwori’s commitment to fairness and internal democracy created an atmosphere that enabled party members to freely choose their preferred candidates without interference.

“His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, ensured a level playing field for everyone.

”That is why the candidates who emerged today can genuinely be described as products of the will of party members across their various constituencies,” he added.

The APC also congratulated all aspirants who participated in the primaries for displaying sportsmanship and responsible conduct during the exercise.

The party further congratulated those who emerged victorious, urging them to remain humble and magnanimous in victory while working towards strengthening the unity of the party ahead of future elections.

According to the party leadership, the primary elections should not be viewed as a contest between enemies but rather as an internal democratic process designed to consolidate the APC’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“There is no winner without the support of others.

”Now that the primaries are over, everyone must come together and work for the continued growth and success of our party.

”We have every reason to stay united and focused as we move toward 2027,” Onojeghuo said.

The Delta APC reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful, transparent, and inclusive democratic processes, expressing confidence that the spirit of unity and cooperation demonstrated during the primaries would further strengthen the party’s chances in future elections across the state.
