NDC promises security, economic recovery in 2027

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged to address insecurity, revive the nation’s economy, and tackle major national challenges if elected into power during the 2027 general elections.

The assurance was given by the National Vice Chairman of the party for the North Central Zone, Mr Barnabas Ejisi, during a one-day interactive session held in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

The meeting brought together party chairmen from North Central states, aspirants, party officials, and other stakeholders to discuss strategies ahead of future elections.

Ejisi called on Nigerians to unite and support the NDC, describing the party as a platform established to rescue citizens from hardship and provide purposeful leadership across the country.

According to him, the party possesses the capacity and commitment needed to deliver meaningful development, particularly in the North Central region, while also addressing insecurity and economic difficulties affecting Nigerians.

“We are the platform with the capacity and commitment to provide real development to the North Central region, tackle insecurity, address the economic hardship and proffer solutions to our nation’s challenges,” he said.

Ejisi also praised leaders of the party, especially former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, for what he described as visionary leadership and dedication to national development.

He further stated that the reported defection of Mr Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the NDC had strengthened the party’s credibility and national appeal.

“If you know what Kwankwaso and Peter Obi stand for and what they achieved as governors, their records are unequalled.

“Nigerians need leaders who will serve them and not exploit them.

”NDC is about service, and that is why our slogan is not power, but service,” Ejisi added.

The party chieftain also encouraged members to actively participate in politics by contesting elective positions in their various states.

He expressed confidence that the NDC would emerge victorious in the forthcoming Nasarawa North Senatorial bye-election.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the NDC in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Solomon Ndam, commended stakeholders in the North Central region for embracing the party.

According to him, the large turnout recorded at the meeting reflected the growing acceptance and popularity of the NDC in the region.

“The presence of NDC in the North Central means that the era of hunger, insecurity and unemployment will soon be over if the people mobilise and vote for the party at all levels,” Ndam stated.

Earlier, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the party, Mr Dogo Shammah, appealed to residents of the state and the wider North Central zone to support the NDC in its pursuit of justice, equity, and progress.

Shammah assured party members that credible candidates would emerge for all elective positions in the state through a consensus arrangement aimed at strengthening unity within the party.

“I urge you to work hard to strengthen the party in your respective states. Nigerians are yearning for credible and people-centred leadership, and that alternative is the Nigeria Democratic Congress,” he said.
