Iheanacho wins Scottish League title with Celtic comeback victory

Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, has added a new chapter to his career after winning the Scottish league title with Celtic following a hard-fought 3–1 victory over Hearts FC in a tense final-day encounter.
Celtic, who went into the decisive match on 79 points, needed all three points to secure the championship and successfully delivered in dramatic fashion to clinch their 56th league title in Scotland.
The match, played against league leaders Hearts FC, began on a difficult note for Celtic as the home side took the lead in the 42nd minute through a well-struck effort from Shankland, which beat the goalkeeper and sent the crowd into celebration.
However, Celtic responded swiftly before the break, restoring parity through Engels, who calmly converted a penalty to ensure the teams went into half-time level at 1–1.
In the second half, the encounter remained tightly contested until Celtic eventually asserted their dominance in the closing stages of the game.
Goals from Maeda in the 86th minute and Osmand in the 97th minute sealed a remarkable comeback victory for Martin O’Neill’s side.
Iheanacho, who started the match on the bench, was introduced in the second half and came close to scoring, but his effort struck the woodwork in what could have been a memorable moment in the title-deciding fixture.
The Nigerian forward had earlier played a crucial role in keeping Celtic’s title hopes alive in the previous match against Motherwell, where he scored a dramatic 97th-minute penalty to secure a 3–2 win.
That result narrowed the gap to just one point behind Hearts FC and set up the final-day showdown.
The league triumph marks Iheanacho’s first domestic league title in Europe, having previously enjoyed success with Manchester City and Leicester City, where he won the FA Cup and EFL Championship respectively.
The achievement adds to the 27-year-old striker’s growing reputation as a big-game player and further strengthens his standing within Nigerian football as one of the country’s key international exports.
Celtic’s victory also extends their dominance in Scottish football, securing yet another league crown in their long and decorated history.
