Nigerian Navy marks 70th anniversary with Jumat prayer in Bayelsa

 

The Forward Operating Base (FOB) FORMOSO of the Nigerian Navy in Brass Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, has held a special Jumat prayer to commemorate the Navy’s 70th anniversary.

The prayer session, held at the FOB FORMOSO Mosque on Friday, brought together officers, ratings, civilian staff, and invited guests in observance of the milestone.

The Commanding Officer of the base, Capt. Sunday Haruna, was present at the gathering alongside other personnel and stakeholders.

The event was organised to seek divine guidance, protection, and blessings for the Nigerian Navy and the nation at large.

Delivering the sermon, the Base Imam and Leading Mosque Assistant, Abdulkadir Abdulkareem, emphasised the importance of peace, unity, cooperation, and dedication to duty among personnel.

He prayed for the continued growth and strength of the Nigerian Navy, urging officers and ratings to remain steadfast in their responsibilities.

Abdulkareem also called on personnel to uphold discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, stressing the importance of national service with sincerity.

The Commanding Officer was represented at the event by the Acting Executive Officer, Lt.-Cdr Garba Yaro, who conveyed the goodwill message of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Idi Abbas.

According to the message, personnel were charged to remain professional, disciplined, innovative, and selfless in their service to the nation.

The Naval Chief also stressed that advancing the Navy’s operational capacity remained a collective responsibility of all officers and ratings.

He further urged personnel to strengthen efforts toward securing Nigeria’s maritime environment in support of national security and economic development.

The prayer session concluded with a group photograph and light refreshments for participants.
