MFM Suspends Vigils Nationwide Over Security Concerns

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has suspended all vigils and overnight programmes across its branches nationwide, citing rising security concerns in the country.
The directive was contained in an internal memo dated June 5, 2026, and issued by the Director of Administration at the church’s International Headquarters in Lagos, Temitope A. Olawale.
According to the memo, all church activities are now required to end on or before 8:00 p.m. until further notice, as part of precautionary measures aimed at ensuring the safety of members.
The church said the decision was taken in response to the prevailing security situation across the country and the need to prioritise the protection and well-being of worshippers.
It further directed that where necessary, vigils should be converted into evening prayer meetings and concluded within the stipulated time frame.
“Where necessary, vigils may be converted to evening prayer programmes and must be concluded on or before 8:00 p.m.,” the memo stated.
MFM stressed that the measure is purely precautionary and not intended to disrupt spiritual activities, adding that the safety of members remains paramount.
“These measures are purely precautionary and are intended to safeguard the lives and well-being of our members in the face of the current security situation in the country,” the church said.
The ministry instructed all ministers, groups and departments nationwide to ensure strict compliance with the directive pending further review.
The development comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of the country, including kidnappings, violent attacks and other security challenges that have heightened anxiety among citizens and organisations.
