Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has endorsed the proposed construction of a new Royal Palace for Udu Kingdom, describing it as a historic development that reflects the identity and aspirations of the people.

The governor made the remarks in a goodwill message delivered at the palace grounds in Otor-Udu during activities marking the first coronation anniversary of the monarch and the official launch of the new palace project.

He was represented at the event by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Guwor.

Oborevwori said the proposed palace goes beyond physical infrastructure, noting that it represents the history, identity, and collective aspirations of the Udu people.

“This project represents the history, identity, and aspirations of the Udu people.

”When completed, it will serve as a fitting seat of traditional authority and a lasting symbol of unity and pride for future generations,” he stated.

The governor also congratulated His Royal Majesty, Okporua I, the Ovie of Udu Kingdom, on his first year on the throne, describing his reign as one marked by peace, unity, wisdom, and commitment to the progress of the kingdom.

He said the monarch had sustained the kingdom’s cultural heritage while embracing development initiatives that promote growth and stability.

As the monarch marked the anniversary and launched the palace project, Oborevwori prayed for continued strength, wisdom, and good health for the traditional ruler.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Delta State, I warmly congratulate Your Royal Majesty and the people of Udu Kingdom on this historic occasion.

”May your reign continue to advance peace, unity, and prosperity, and may the New Royal Palace Project serve as an enduring symbol of the kingdom’s rich heritage, resilience, and collective vision for the future.

“Long live His Royal Majesty, Okporua I. Long live Udu Kingdom, long live Delta State,” the governor said.

The ceremony was attended by top government officials, members of the Delta State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, traditional rulers, and prominent sons and daughters of Udu Kingdom.
