PDP Professionals Issue Eviction Warning Over Secretariat Dispute

The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning to the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led group, demanding that they immediately vacate the party’s national secretariat at Wadata Plaza or risk being forcibly removed.

In a statement by the National Coordinator of the PDP Professionals, Obinna Nwachukwu, the group said its position was based on what it described as a clear judicial pronouncement by Justice Uchechukwu, JCA, of the Court of Appeal in Appeal No. CA/IB/M.90/2026.

He said, ”the ruling has effectively stripped the recalcitrant elements of any legally recognisable authority, exposing their continued occupation of the party’s office as a brazen act of lawlessness, trespass, and political imposture.

“For public elucidation and avoidance of doubt, we make the following clarifications. The Court of Appeal, in resolving a Notice of Objection to the appearance of Dapo Durosaro, Esq. for the PDP and Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum (National Chairman), thoroughly ventilated the constitutional mechanics of our party.”

Nwachukwu explained that the central issue before the court was whether A. K. Ajibade, SAN, remained the National Legal Adviser with authority to delegate legal representation on behalf of the party. He said the appellate court resolved the issue by clarifying key constitutional questions within the PDP structure.

The statement further noted that the court held that following Ajibade’s suspension on November 1, 2025, he lost all authority conferred on him under the party’s constitution.

Quoting the ruling, the group stated: “Any exercise of the power conferred on a party official by the party’s constitution, while a suspension subsists, is an exercise in futility.”

On party leadership legitimacy, the PDP Professionals said the court affirmed the decision of the 608th National Working Committee (NWC), which directed the National Directorate of Legal Services to assume responsibilities and subsequently brief Dapo Durosaro, Esq. to represent the party and its National Chairman.

They further argued that the court noted that although Ajibade’s suspension lasted one month, his tenure had already expired in December 2025, thereby ending any claim to office.

The group insisted that, in light of the judgment, continued occupation of the PDP national secretariat by the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction amounts to illegality and must cease immediately.
