ADC, Labour Party Receive INEC Access Codes

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Labour Party (LP) have confirmed receiving access codes from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to begin uploading the names of their candidates for the 2027 general election.

The development marked the commencement of the administrative phase of candidate nomination, following the conclusion of party primaries across the country.

National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed that the party received the access codes earlier in the week.

According to him, INEC transmitted the codes on Monday, enabling the party to commence the process of uploading the details of its nominated candidates through the commission’s online portal.

Similarly, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Ken Asogwa, disclosed that the party’s National Chairman, Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, had also received the access codes from the electoral commission.

Although officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were yet to make a formal announcement, reports indicated that the ruling party had also received its access codes from INEC.

However, the party was said to be managing post-primary disputes in several states before fully proceeding with the nomination process.

Investigations revealed that a number of aggrieved APC aspirants have submitted petitions to the party’s national appeal committees, while party leaders and stakeholders have intensified reconciliation efforts to prevent the disagreements from escalating.

Meanwhile, a Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered INEC to generate and release access codes for the registration of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) to the leadership headed by Chief Akin Rickett.

In a judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, the court directed INEC to issue the access codes within 72 hours to the association’s recognised pro tem secretary.

The court held that the commission acted unlawfully by earlier releasing the access code to Umar Ardo, who was found not to be the recognised pro tem secretary of the association.

It subsequently declared the action null and void.

Justice Lifu further ordered INEC to reopen its registration portal for one week to enable the association upload all statutory documents, including its membership register, in compliance with electoral requirements.

In Gombe State, candidates of the APC for the governorship, Senate and House of Representatives have received their official INEC nomination forms through the party’s national secretariat.

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya presented the forms to the candidates during a ceremony at the Government House in Gombe, describing the exercise as the completion of the party’s internal nomination process and the beginning of the formal submission of candidates to INEC.

Among those presented with the nomination forms were the APC governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, the party’s three senatorial candidates and six House of Representatives candidates, ahead of the commission’s submission deadlines for the 2027 general election.
