Adeyemi Seeks Probe Over Presidency, Budget Dispute

Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi has called on President Bola Tinubu to establish an independent panel to investigate allegations surrounding his appointment, the existence of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), and claims of financial impropriety involving senior government officials.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Adeyemi alleged that he was appointed to head the council after making substantial payments through intermediaries and claimed that disagreements later arose over demands relating to the agency’s proposed take-off funds.

He further alleged that the dispute culminated in efforts to distance the Presidency from the agency, despite what he described as documentary evidence of its existence.

Adeyemi argued that references to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council appear in the 2026 Appropriation Act and claimed the agency also has approved personnel, office accommodation and banking arrangements with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

According to him, these developments raise questions about the status of the agency and the processes through which it was allegedly created and funded.

The claims followed an earlier statement from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, which denied any connection with the council and maintained that the body is not a recognised federal government agency.

Reacting to the denial, Adeyemi questioned how an agency he described as non-existent could allegedly appear in the national budget and possess official administrative structures.

He also alleged that he had been subjected to intimidation following the dispute and urged the President to constitute an independent investigative panel to examine all relevant documents, budgetary records and administrative approvals connected to the matter.

Among other requests, Adeyemi called for an inquiry into the agency’s legal status, its inclusion in the national budget, and the circumstances surrounding his appointment.

He also urged investigators to examine his allegations of financial demands and other claims raised during the briefing.

He maintained that he was prepared to cooperate fully with any lawful investigation, insisting that the issues should be resolved through documentary evidence rather than conflicting public statements.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency has denied any connection with the alleged agency, while the allegations made by Adeyemi have not been independently verified.

No official response was immediately available regarding the fresh claims raised during the press conference.
