Ndume Urges Stronger Action After Borno School Kidnapping

The Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume, has called on the Federal Government to intensify its fight against insurgency and banditry following the abduction of students in Borno State.
Ndume made the appeal after terrorists reportedly attacked a school in Lassa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area during the ongoing National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations, abducting about 42 students and women selling food within the school premises.
According to the senator, the attackers invaded the school disguised as military personnel and operatives of the newly introduced Forest Guard, firing sporadically before taking the victims away. He described the incident as deeply disturbing, especially as the fate of other kidnapped children in the region remains unknown.
Ndume urged security agencies and the Federal Government to act more decisively, saying the continued attacks were creating fear and undermining public confidence in the state’s ability to protect citizens.
He called for sustained operations aimed at locating and dismantling terrorist hideouts.
The senator also appealed for the swift rescue of the abducted students and other victims from previous attacks across Borno communities, including those from Mussa, Ngoshe, and along the Buratai-Biu Road.
While commending security personnel for past rescue efforts, Ndume stressed the need for stronger coordination among security agencies to prevent further attacks and restore public trust.
He said only a more aggressive and proactive security approach would reassure Nigerians that they can live without fear of insurgent attacks.
