Amotekun Parades 28 Suspects, Busts Kidnap Ring

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps, has paraded 28 suspects arrested for alleged offences including kidnapping, armed banditry, cultism, rape, robbery and stealing.

Parading the suspects in Akure, the State Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, said the corps also dismantled a kidnapping syndicate allegedly involving a father and three of his sons, rescuing a victim and recovering over 75 per cent of the ransom paid.

Adeleye disclosed that one of the principal suspects had been on the corps’ watchlist since 2024 over alleged kidnapping activities in Ondo North Senatorial District before he was eventually arrested in recent operations.

He said the victim was abducted while travelling to Oba Akoko, adding that the family paid ransom without informing security agencies, but the kidnappers still refused to release him and issued threats against reporting the case.

According to him, operatives tracked the suspects to a hideout where a father and his sons were found allegedly operating under the guise of cattle rearing.

He said the suspects attacked operatives during the raid but the victim was rescued, though he had sustained injuries from torture. Items recovered include drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and materials allegedly used to blindfold the victim.

Adeleye added that several other suspects were arrested across the state for various crimes and assured residents that criminal elements would no longer find safe havens in forests or communities within Ondo State.
