Tinubu says reforms are reviving Nigeria’s economy

President Bola Tinubu has defended his administration’s economic reforms, saying the difficult decisions taken since assuming office are beginning to deliver positive results, with key indicators pointing to a stabilising economy and renewed investor confidence.
Speaking at the maiden State House Media Dinner in Abuja on Thursday, the President said his government’s fiscal and economic reforms have strengthened public finances and laid the foundation for sustainable long-term growth.
According to Tinubu, state governments are now receiving significantly higher allocations to fund development projects, while Nigeria is witnessing improved foreign reserves, increased investment in the oil and gas sector and stronger performance in the capital market.
He said ongoing tax reforms, fiscal discipline, infrastructure development and efforts to improve the business environment are creating conditions for a more competitive and productive economy.
“The difficult but necessary reforms undertaken by this administration are yielding results.
”Our economy is stabilising, public revenues have strengthened significantly, investor confidence is returning and key economic indicators are moving in the right direction,” the President said.
While acknowledging that challenges remain, Tinubu maintained that the country is firmly on the path to long-term economic recovery and prosperity.
On security, the President said his administration has sustained a multi-dimensional strategy to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, oil theft and other criminal activities across the country.
He noted that military operations have intensified, intelligence gathering has improved and collaboration among security agencies has become stronger, leading to the neutralisation of thousands of criminal elements, the rescue of hostages and the recovery of communities previously under the control of armed groups.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian can live and work in a secure environment.
The President also commended the Nigerian media for its contribution to democracy, describing journalists as critical partners in nation-building.
He urged media practitioners to continue reporting responsibly, accurately and professionally, stressing the need to avoid sensationalism capable of inflaming tensions.
According to him, while government is responsible for governance and public service, the media plays an equally important role by holding leaders accountable and keeping citizens informed.
Tinubu further assured journalists that his administration remained committed to protecting press freedom and the constitutional right to freedom of expression, pledging continued support for an independent and responsible media.
