Dickson mourns longtime aide Zamani Tanko

Founder and national leader of the NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, has paid a deeply emotional tribute to his late longtime aide, Zamani Tanko, describing him as more than a staff member but a trusted brother and integral part of his family.

In a heartfelt statement, Dickson revealed that Tanko, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), served him faithfully for over 15 years, beginning from his time as governor when Tanko was attached to his security detail.

With experience spanning the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), State Intelligence Bureau (SIB), and Mobile Police (MOPOL), Tanko quickly distinguished himself through loyalty, discipline, and professionalism.

According to Dickson, what began as a professional relationship gradually evolved into a deep familial bond.

Even after Tanko’s retirement from active police service, he was retained as a Special Assistant due to the exceptional trust he had earned.

He was affectionately called “Uncle Zamani” by Dickson’s children and household members.

Describing the late aide as humble, dependable, and selfless, Dickson noted that Tanko handled numerous responsibilities with quiet efficiency and unwavering dedication.

He added that his passing has created a painful void within his family and close circle of staff, with daily routines still reminding them of his absence.

“I still find myself calling his name for assignments he used to handle,” Dickson lamented, noting that coming to terms with the loss has been difficult.

He further stated that Tanko’s loyalty was unwavering and his service extended beyond duty, emphasising that he was not just a colleague but a friend and brother whose presence shaped the daily life of the household.

While mourning his passing as a tragic loss, Dickson expressed gratitude to God for the years shared and the impact Tanko made during his lifetime.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and asked for divine comfort for his wife, children, and loved ones.
“Adieu Zamani,” he said.
