Investigators probe Mary Habila’s death at Umahi’s residence

Police investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the death of physiotherapist Mary Habila after she was found unresponsive at the residence of Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, according to police sources familiar with the investigation.

The sources said investigators are working to establish the sequence of events at the minister’s country home in Ebonyi State, including who was present, what actions were taken after Habila was discovered, and when emergency medical assistance was contacted.

According to the sources, investigators are also looking into allegations that David Umahi left the residence shortly after the incident while his aides arranged for an ambulance.

A police source said investigators were focused on determining the actual timeline of events surrounding Habila’s discovery and the response that followed.

The source said, “Investigators are seeking to establish the actual timeline, including who was present at the residence, what actions were taken after Habila was discovered, and when emergency medical assistance was requested.”

David Umahi has since publicly addressed the controversy surrounding Mary Habila’s death, confirming that the physiotherapist died at his residence and denying any wrongdoing.

The minister has also threatened legal action against individuals he accused of publishing false information about the incident.

However, David Umahi has not publicly responded to every allegation linked to the circumstances surrounding Habila’s death.

The death of Mary Habila remained under investigation, with authorities continuing to gather evidence, including witness statements and forensic materials, as they work to determine the cause and circumstances of the incident.

Investigators are expected to establish the full sequence of events as the inquiry continues.
