Dangote offers N500,000 reward for illegal haulage tips

Dangote Industries Limited has launched a public whistleblowing initiative offering a N500,000 cash reward to individuals who provide credible information leading to the arrest of offenders involved in illegal haulage or the interception of unauthorised goods transported with Dangote-branded trucks.
The company said the initiative is part of a wider effort to protect the integrity of its logistics operations nationwide and curb the activities of individuals using Dangote vehicles for unauthorised commercial purposes.
In a statement on Monday, Dangote urged members of the public to report suspected cases of illegal haulage involving its trucks, stressing that vehicles belonging to its subsidiaries approved only for specific products.
According to the company, Dangote Cement trucks are permitted to transport only cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker, while Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are restricted to sugar products.
It added that NASCON Allied Industries trucks are designated exclusively for Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, while Dangote Packaging vehicles are authorised only for bags and packaging materials.
The company stated that trucks operated by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are approved for transporting polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited vehicles are restricted to urea fertiliser.
Dangote warned that any truck found carrying unauthorised goods would be classified as involved in illegal haulage, with drivers and owners of such goods liable to arrest, cargo confiscation and prosecution under relevant laws.
“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorised goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the company said.
To assist investigations, the company advised whistleblowers to provide details including the truck type, registration number, cab number, location, description of goods being transported, vehicle colour and photographs of the truck and cargo where available.
Dangote disclosed that dedicated hotlines had been created across its operations to receive reports of illegal haulage activities, including incidents involving trucks operating from its Obajana, Okpella and Gboko plants.
The company also said law enforcement agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, had been authorised to arrest drivers found using Dangote trucks for unauthorised commercial transportation.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy towards logistics-related fraud, Dangote urged Nigerians to support efforts to protect legitimate business operations by reporting illegal activities.
“Public cooperation remains critical in our efforts to eradicate illegal haulage activities. We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and help us maintain the integrity of our transportation system,” the company said.
Dangote Industries added that the whistleblowing programme was designed not only to protect its assets and operations but also to promote transparency, accountability and compliance across its logistics network.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to lawful business practices, saying reports received through the initiative would assist ongoing efforts to protect the Dangote brand and ensure offenders are brought to justice.
