NDC candidate alleges widespread forgery against opponent in primary documents

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate, Chief Chris Obiuwevbi, accused a House of Representatives aspirant, Julius Akpovoka, of allegedly forging primary election results, police reports and nomination documents in what it described as a calculated attempt to manipulate the party’s candidate selection process.
In a statement, the party candidate claimed that the disputed result sheets, allegedly produced in the name of another aspirant, Austin Kpedi, contained numerous inconsistencies that, according to its officials, exposed them as fake.
Chief Obiuwevbi alleged that the documents bore the inscription “Nigeria Democratic Congress Statement of Result” with a subheading “House of Reps NDC,” insisting that no such official designation exists within the party’s electoral structure.
Obiuwevbi, who’s better known in political circle as Ominimini, further argued that the documents carried the name of a non-existent office, “NDC National Organising Secretariat,” and were stamped with what they described as a fake party seal.
According to the statement, the alleged forged result sheets also carried the same serial number, “SN 000001,” for different local government areas, a development the party said would be impossible in any authentic election documentation.
He also questioned several sections of the documents, including spaces for accredited voters, ballot papers issued, unused ballot papers, spoiled ballot papers and rejected ballots.
He maintained that the NDC conducted its primary election through the direct “queue behind your preferred candidate” method, insisting that no ballot papers or polling units were used during the exercise.
He further pointed to the inclusion of “Region” on the forms, where “Delta Central” was reportedly entered, arguing that Nigeria no longer operates a regional structure and that Delta Central is a senatorial district rather than a region.
According to him, the forms also contained constituency, regional and local government codes, which it claimed are features associated with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) documents and not party primary election materials.
He alleged that one of the disputed result sheets for Udu Local Government Area carried a signature without the signatory’s name, while another purportedly signed by Chief Victor Ohare was disowned by him after he was contacted.
He also claimed that Austin Kpedi had denied any knowledge of the alleged forged documents bearing his name.
Beyond the election results, the NDC candidate alleged that two police reports submitted in support of the documents were also forged, claiming that the Divisional Police Officers whose names appeared on them had denied issuing the reports.
He maintained that Julius Akpovoka was never issued an official nomination form for the primary election.
Hec also questioned the authenticity of the notary public’s endorsement on the document and alleged that the nomination form lacked the signatures of the purported nominators.
Describing the alleged irregularities as criminal, Obiuwevbi called for a thorough investigation into the documents, insisting that those responsible should be held accountable in accordance with the law.
The allegations have yet to be publicly responded to by Julius Akpovoka or any other individual mentioned in the statement.
