Newly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya (SAN), has expressed deep appreciation to lawyers across the country for entrusting her with the leadership of the association, promising to build a stronger, more united and member-focused Bar.
In her first message after emerging victorious in the NBA presidential election, Badejo-Okusanya described her victory as a collective mandate to transform the association into one that serves the interests of every legal practitioner, regardless of status or location.
She said interactions with lawyers during her nationwide campaign across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory exposed her to the challenges facing members, assuring that those concerns would form the foundation of her administration’s policies.
Calling for unity after the keenly contested election, the president-elect urged lawyers to put the campaign behind them and work together in promoting justice, professionalism and the rule of law.
She also praised her fellow contestants for strengthening the association’s democratic tradition through a peaceful electoral process.
Badejo-Okusanya further acknowledged the dedication of her campaign team, volunteers, supporters, mentors, family and friends, reserving special appreciation for her husband for his unwavering encouragement throughout the electioneering period.
She pledged to lead with integrity, accountability, fairness and humility while pursuing reforms aimed at improving the welfare and professional development of lawyers.
