Senator Ned Nwoko (APC–Delta) has vowed to challenge a Federal High Court ruling that struck out his suit contesting the senatorial candidacy of former Delta State Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa.
In a statement issued by his legal team on Monday in Abuja, Nwoko described the court’s decision as disappointing, insisting that the legal battle was far from over.
He disclosed that his lawyers had already been directed to file an appeal, expressing confidence that the Court of Appeal would reverse the ruling.
“We have instructed our counsel to file an appeal immediately and are confident that the appellate court will overturn it,” he said.
Nwoko argued that the case was struck out on procedural grounds rather than determined on its substantive merits.
According to him, the court had earlier granted permission for amendments to his legal processes before later reversing that order on its own initiative.
He maintained that the action unfairly prevented the court from fully considering the issues raised in the suit.
“This is an attempt to sabotage the substantive suit at this preliminary stage, and it is imperative that the suit be heard on its merits,” he stated.
The senator reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing the matter through the appellate court, saying he remained confident that justice would prevail.
He also stressed that his actions were guided by the principles of fairness, transparency, party unity and the overall development of Delta State.
