Delta woos investors ahead of economic summit

The Delta State Government has intensified efforts to attract local and foreign investors by showcasing its infrastructure, energy and maritime assets ahead of the 2026 Delta State Economic and Investment Summit scheduled for August 3 to 5 in Asaba.
The state said years of investment in roads, bridges, electricity and transport have positioned Delta as one of Nigeria’s leading destinations for business and industrial growth.
Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, while briefing journalists on Wednesday, said more than 2,600 kilometres of roads and over 20 bridges have been constructed or rehabilitated, improving access to communities and lowering transportation costs.
He identified the Delta Special Economic Zone as a major attraction, noting that its connection to the OB-3 gas pipeline provides reliable and affordable power for industries.
He added that the state’s independent electricity network is already supplying government facilities, with plans underway to expand power for businesses.
Emu also highlighted Delta’s four seaports, two airports and 163-kilometre Atlantic coastline as strategic assets capable of driving investments in shipping, logistics and the blue economy.
He said opportunities also exist in aquaculture, commercial fishing, seafood processing and marine transportation.
According to him, the state is richly endowed with solid minerals, including coal, lignite, kaolin and silica, creating prospects in mining, manufacturing and power generation.
The SSG disclosed that investment promotion campaigns in countries such as China and Brazil have generated strong interest, with several foreign companies expected to participate in the summit.
He expressed confidence that the gathering would attract fresh investments, create jobs, expand exports and accelerate industrial development across Delta State.
