Governor Malam Namadi of Jigawa State has reinstated 28 political appointees and approved the appointment of eight new advisers as part of efforts to enhance governance and improve service delivery across the state.
The development was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Bala Ibrahim, and released to journalists on Wednesday.
The reinstated officials include 14 Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants and eight Special Assistants, while the newly appointed officers comprise six Special Advisers and two Senior Special Assistants.
Among those returning to office as Special Advisers are Dr Atiku Hafiz (Public Health), Saleh Ahmed Birniwa (Youth Mobilisation), Abdurrahman Alkassim (Local Government Affairs I), Haladu Usman (Project Monitoring), Khalid S. Ibrahim (Support Groups), Dr Habib Aminu Kani (Technology and Innovation), Hudu Babangida (Senior Citizens) and Safiyanu Abba Sankara (Health Matters).
Others include Haruna Mairiga (Social Security), Ibrahim Hussaini Kadeta (Trade and Commerce), Ismaila Abdul’aziz (Micro Finance Bank), Adamu Idris Andaza (Social Protection), Abdulwahab T. Sulaiman (SEMA) and Hassan Alhaji Musa (Human Resources).
The reinstated Senior Special Assistants are Hamza Gada Bala (Assembly Matters), Husseini Umar BK (Industrial Relations), Shu’aibu Inuwa Basirka (Nutrition), Mansur Shehu (MSMEs and Financial Inclusion), Abdurrashid Illah Ringim (JASCO) and Aliyu Abubakar Aliyu (Youth Mobilisation, Ringim Emirate).
Those reinstated as Special Assistants include Siraj Muhammad (Project Monitoring), Muhammad Fatihu Adamu (Health Monitoring), Aliyu Umar Abubakar (Health Monitoring, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area), Salisu Yau (Higher Education), Haruna Mustapha Jahun (Due Process), Tijjani Sayyadi (Drug Abuse and Rape), Yusha’u Abdu (Health Monitoring) and Garba A. Abdullahi (Community Mobilisation).
Governor Namadi also approved the appointment of Professor Muftahu Sa’adu Majia as Technical Adviser on Higher Education, while Hajiya Salma Wakili was named Special Adviser on Entrepreneurship.
Other new appointees are Adamu Yusuf Garkuwa (Special Adviser on Hajj Affairs), Mubarak Aliyu (Special Adviser on Intergovernmental Affairs), Musbahu Rabi’u Kaugama (Special Adviser on Investment Promotion), Bala Sule Kila (Special Adviser on NGOs), Umar Sa’idu Janbola (Senior Special Assistant on Hajj Affairs) and Bayero Maifulani (Senior Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation).
The SSG said the appointments were based on merit, competence and integrity, expressing confidence that the officials would contribute their experience and expertise towards advancing the administration’s development programmes.
He congratulated the appointees and urged them to demonstrate commitment, loyalty and dedication in carrying out their responsibilities.
The statement noted that all appointments and reinstatements take immediate effect.
