Former Bayelsa State Governor and founder/national leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has reaffirmed the strength and unity of the party’s structure in Sagbama Local Government Area ahead of future political engagements.
Dickson spoke after the NDC Sagbama LGA Chapter held an expanded meeting involving top local government and ward officials, party leaders, Assembly candidates, and other stakeholders.
The former governor expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for their continued loyalty and commitment, especially those who have sustained the party’s grassroots structures in his absence.
“I thank the caucus leaders led by Professor Osusu, and all the Chairmen, leaders and our candidates for the efforts they are making, and for keeping the home-base intact in my absence, even in the face of unwarranted intimidation and harassment,” Dickson said.
He praised key party figures, including Prof. Osusu, Hon. Salo Adikumo, Chairman Macaulay, ward chairmen, and other officials for providing leadership and maintaining unity within the party.
Dickson, however, issued a strong warning against those he accused of relying on intimidation and manipulation during elections, insisting that the people’s votes would determine the outcome.
“Some people are living in the past where they believe security agencies—the police, soldiers as well as armed thugs, will write results for them in connivance with INEC officials and where chairmen of councils will cordon-off LGA collation centres, write and announce fake results as they please.
”They will be shocked this time around.”
He maintained that every elected or appointed official has only one vote and that the power remains with the electorate.
“Every elected or appointed official has only one vote, and it is the vote of the people that will count in their communities, and we are fully on ground in all communities in Bayelsa State, Ijaw land and across the country, ” he said.
Dickson assured party supporters that the NDC remains firmly established across communities, adding that the party’s grassroots network is active and united.
He thanked NDC members in Sagbama LGA for their dedication and reaffirming his commitment to the party’s cause, saying NDC all the way, just asvhebdescribed the main opposition party as “OWO BRA-BRA PARTY”.
