Delta gets new police commissioner in major shake-up

The Nigeria Police Force has announced a major reshuffle involving the deployment of Commissioners of Police to various state commands and strategic formations across the country.
The redeployment was approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, following the endorsement of his recommendations by the Police Service Commission (PSC).
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the exercise is aimed at improving operational efficiency, strengthening leadership across police formations and supporting ongoing reforms within the force.
As part of the shake-up, CP Samuel Erale has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Delta State, while other senior officers have been assigned to different state commands.
The new state command deployments include:
CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo — Abia State
CP Ayodeji Faniyan — Plateau State
CP Saka Adewale Ajao — Bayelsa State
CP Ajo Geofrey Ordue — Cross River State
CP Nanna Oji Ama — Anambra State
CP Patrick Daaor — Edo State
CP Tani Murtala — Jigawa State
CP Samuel Erale — Delta State
The reshuffle also affected several strategic departments and formations at the Force Headquarters and other police institutions.
Among the appointments, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi was posted to head INTERPOL at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, while CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike was assigned to the Department of Finance and Administration and Department of Training and Development at Force Headquarters.

CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf — Counter Terrorism Unit, Force Headquarters

CP Ajayi Oluyemi — Department of Finance and Administration, Force Headquarters
CP Bolanle Aremu — Inspectorate, Department of Training and Development
CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman — Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos
CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed — Department of Finance and Administration, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos
CP Rita Oyintare Oki — Administration, FCID Annex, Kaduna
CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura — Training and Courses, Police Academy, Kano
CP Nelson Nwamana — Administration, Force Intelligence Department, Abuja
The changes also saw the deployment of other senior officers to specialised roles, including training, anti-fraud operations, welfare, intelligence and administrative positions.
The Inspector-General of Police charged the affected officers to use their experience to strengthen intelligence-led policing, improve operational effectiveness and deepen community engagement.
Disu urged the officers to maintain professionalism, discipline and accountability while prioritising the protection of lives and property in their respective assignments.
He said the deployments were part of efforts to reposition the Nigeria Police Force and enhance service delivery nationwide.
